Managing Principal Ted Hunton Celebrates 30th Work Anniversary
Managing Principal and Owner Ted Hunton, AIA, LEED AP, celebrates his 30th work anniversary! We honor him as a visionary, an exceptional team player, and an outstanding architect who adds tremendous value with his design expertise and ability to understand the meaningful connection between people and places.
"While Ted has served FK Architecture for 30 years, I first met him while he was still a toddler," noted a longtime colleague. "I had previously worked with his father, Tom Hunton, when first out of school. It was a delight to have Ted join FK Architecture 30 years ago, following in his dad's footsteps. Still, in the interim, Ted has demonstrated his talent, tenacity, and loyalty to the firm and its clients, earning the respect of all who know him professionally and personally. He honors his family's heritage in architecture as he has bettered FK's identity and accomplishments."
Since joining FK Architecture in 1995, Ted has had an incredible journey. To celebrate this momentous milestone, we are proud to highlight some of his notable accomplishments and hear from our colleagues regarding fond memories of Ted.
"I appreciate Ted's leadership and demeanor," said one of his teammates. "Ted sets a great example, not only as a boss, but as a person. Ted always treats you like a coworker and not an employee. It's a unique approach, and it is the most important reason why I love working at FK Architecture. Ted never shows that he is stressed and works whenever needed. He never asks anyone to work extra hours, but he sets an example for me, and I follow his lead without question."
Ted received his Master of Architecture at the University of Florida and put his incredible talent and skills to work at FK Architecture after eight years in the industry. His accomplishments and projects are noteworthy. Ted is responsible for developing FK's firm-wide design standards, and he oversees design presentations, project design development, and design direction to ensure consistency. He's known for developing uniformly high production standards and monitoring projects to meet quality expectations.
"Ted, congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone of 30 years at FK Architecture," said a project design colleague. "It's clear that your dedication and hard work have shaped your successful career and played a pivotal role in FK's growth and achievements. You've been an integral part of the firm's success, and I am truly grateful to be able to learn from your vast experience and thoughtful leadership every day. A great leader sets an example and recognizes the contributions of their team—and you exemplify that every day. I consider myself fortunate to work alongside you and witness your guidance's positive impact. Here's to many more successful years ahead!"
Speaking of the firm's success, Ted has been involved in many notable projects here at FK Architecture, from affordable housing to corporate headquarters, office and retail spaces, campuses, hotels, resorts, apartments, and restaurants. He shows the same dedication and commitment to exceptional standards, whether a project is 80 units or 1,200 timeshare units.
The memories during funny and pivotal moments are vast.
"Ted is the type of leader that makes you feel like your personal life is just as interesting as your work life," said a team member. "I find that to be a major contributing factor to why so many trust him."
Ted has proven to be a great ally during key turning points for employees.
"Ted never gets too high or too low, and for the longest time, I've wondered if he would show the slightest urge to explode, but he is always even-keeled. Ted is truly a remarkable person, and I thank him for taking a chance on me and allowing me to flourish here at FK."
Many are in awe of Ted's demeanor and spirit of kindness.
"As I was going through a difficult time a few years ago and had to start my life over, Ted was kind enough to give me a few items that eased my transition," said a colleague. "Ted did not have to do anything, but knowing someone was there to help made a world of difference for me. I have always appreciated Ted, and I'm working on repaying his kindness."
After hours, Ted shows his adventurous side.
"Climbing Camelback Mountain in Phoenix, Arizona, where Ted's inner 'billy goat' was on full display," said one of his coworkers, recalling a favorite memory with him. "I think he made it safely down the mountain in 30 seconds."
From hiking to games, Ted has flexed his diversity in recreational activities.
"Remember that time we were so well matched in cornhole that we just got the bags stuck in a pile?" said a colleague. "Wow. Almost 0% chance of that happening again."
We'll be celebrating Ted for a while, and we'll continue to say thanks and look forward to the future with Ted, as he will undoubtedly continue to bring insights and joy to clients, communities, and our staff.
"I can't say thank you enough for the knowledge and guidance you've provided me, especially over the past few months," said a teammate. "You've not only helped me solve problems, but you have shown me different ways to approach problems that may arise. This grasshopper is excited to continue learning as much as she can moving forward."
Congratulations from all of us at FK Architecture for 30 years, Ted!
