Geometric Seascape Mural Offers Respire and Renewal to FK Employees and Clients

Creativity is at the core of what we do. This past year, we felt it was particularly important to step back and create a unique space that boosts morale and maintains the heart and soul of FK Architecture. After months of meetings and planning, we are happy to announce that we have created the FK Design Lounge, an innovative and relaxing place for us to host events, hold staff meetings, participate in virtual conferences and step away from our desks for a respite from work. Originally an underutilized space in our building, we reconfigured the area and provided all the tools our staff needs for exploration of their creative impulses while providing a comfortable and relaxing space.

To complete the project, we commissioned Stephanie Hunton, who is studying Illustration at Ringling College of Art and Design, to paint an 8x12ft seascape mural designed with geometric shapes and incorporating the room’s contemporary color scheme and patterns to help tie in the design. This project was Stephanie’s second mural of this size, and we are in awe of her talent! Stephanie’s goal was to create a mix of a serene scene with geometric shapes for stylized realism; she accomplished just that.

“Stephanie exudes creativity in every sense of the word, and I’m so proud of her contribution to our new space,” said Ted Hunton, Stephanie’s father, and principal at the firm over 25 years. “The idea of the seascape came from Stephanie’s imagination. She played around with several thumbnail ideas before starting the painting.”

With Stephanie’s mural as our centerpiece, FK Design Lounge allows us to host internal and external meetings, explore new technologies such as virtual reality, collaborate as a team, dine together, and invite our clients and friends to share our spirit for the creative. This space houses the latest gadgetry for any audio-visual needs. Come relax, innovate, and see Stephanie’s great work!
